SEEKING PARTNERSHIP FUNDING
Punkworks is currently seeking funding and sponsorship towards commercializing microwave powered transmission. Several applications exist, including a high altitude platform, solar powered satellite, or grid power distribution. Pictures from our 2007 work and contest run are up. Contact us today for a summary of our technical expertise.

SALT LAKE CITY BOUND THIS YEAR (more inside)
This year, Punkworks has focussed on developing the beam-power technology. It has been a tremendous journey for our team preparing for the competition. We are partnering with McGill University to compete in the Spaceward Foundation's Space Elevator Challenge to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah from Oct. 19-21, 2007.This is one of the NASA Centennial Challenges.

WHAT IS A SPACE ELEVATOR? (more inside)
A space elevator is a structure that would be used to cheaply transport cargo and people from the Earth's surface into space. A paper-thin ribbon, a meter wide, is anchored to a point on the equator and reaches to a counterweight 100 000 km straight up. As the Earth rotates, the inertia of the tether works against gravity and keeps it up. Electrically powered climbers would move up and down the space elevator at 200 km/h.
